Don’t be a Douche

With my newfound ability to actually watch YouTube videos I stumbled upon this hot little number. Seems Jack Black saw it high time to make a piracy PSA. I love sarcasm and with stealing internets and by implication losing rocket sauce this is sarcasm at its near best.

If you just want the link here is the Jack Black PSA.

Flash + Linux = Love!

The day I’ve been waiting patiently for so long, flash 9 on linux, has finally arrived. It’s only the first beta of flash 9 on linux but it’s already leaps and beyond the flash player 7 plugin I had before. Now I’m able to watch youtube videos, the sound always works, and it properly syncs as well. Not only can I watch them in all their glory but I can do it while listening to music with amarok simultaneously. I’m so excited I want to get up and dance around my room… I think I will.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system it’s time to go off and try to break it if I can and give them some worthy bug reports to help them out. So much thanks to Mike, Tinic, Emmy, and everyone else involved. You all just made my day! It may only be the 32 bit version now but I was used to that with 7 anyhow. Once the 64-bit version is released and I can use the normal version of firefox again I may just be able to die happy.

Last night was full of absurdity and also a lot of fun. My friends and I went out to Detroit for the Suicide Girls show and two of us had been before so we kinda knew what to expect. The two opening acts were bands and respectively a novelty act and unoriginal beyond what I previously knew was possible. Sometimes I think I might be alone in my opinions of how horrible some bands are but the guitarist had a cup thrown at him and then a fight broke out. It was the most entertaining part of their set. I assumed nothing at all would happen until they got off the stage and much to my disbelief I was wrong… someone proposed to his wife during the last song. All I know is when they procreate its not going to be pretty or make any adorable little babies.

Soon thereafter the show I had actually come to see began. The show was pretty damn amazing complete with beatiful girls, intriguing stage props, and good music. While there are a couple movies/songs that will never be the same after that show I wouldn’t call it a bad thing. You know you just saw a good show when you walk out with a headache from yelling so much covered in vinegar and ketchup.

Anybody like graffiti?

Well I surely do but it has to be done just right. Who better to do this than the one and only bansky. He’s got a show in LA this weekend and while I will never be special enough to see it myself, I’m a poor college student, the internet brings it to me. Go look at the wonderful photographs of the VIP night at BANKSY’S “BARELY LEGAL”. You will not be disappointed.

Another example of his wonderful work. Lest me not forget a link to his site if you like what you’ve seen. This is art I can really appreciate. Who would have though anyone could profit off something that started as simple graffiti?

While I’m on the topic there are people doing research on new types of graffiti and damn are they some smart cookies. Check out the Graffiti Research Lab. If only I had the balls to do the things they do.

Looks like facebook added a new feature called news feeds and mini-feeds. What they are is an aggregation of all the recent changes that have happened to all your friends and anything they’ve done on facebook. As they say all of this information was already available and that is true enough but getting all the information they give you would be damn near impossible. On your facebook homepage you get a list of all of the updates relating to your friends, when they join groups, leave groups, get tagged in a picture, post new pictures, comment on a picture, post to a wall anywhere, add friends, delete items out of interests, add favorite books, change any little section in their profile, RSVP to events, and even when their profile picture is changed. Now its possible for everyone to know silly little details that may seem they should be a little more private. Waste even more time with what is possible when the power of data mining is applied to facebook.

Snakes on a what?

Snakes on a Comic

Unfortunately I’ve yet to see the movie but soon dammit. Once all of the motherfucking social responsibilities of welcome week are out of the motherfucking way or I find a little break I’m going to see it. I’ve only heard amazing things and hopefully the movie is so motherfucking awful it’s motherfucking amazing.

I’m so excited it looks like Zooomr’s portals are actually being released right on time. Just one step in the direction to take away any advantage Flickr may have still had over Zooomr. Oh happy day.
